Shah Rukh, Aamir recite poems to honour Sachin Tendulkar

What better when you can have Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan and Sachin Tendulkar along with B-town beauties Rani Mukerji, Priyanka Chopra, Diya Mirza and others grooving and partying together! A hoard of Bollywood superstars and the entire Indian cricket team got together at Mukesh Ambani's residence at Cuffe Parade recently when Ambanis organised a party in Sachin's honour to mark the completion of his 20 years of cricket.

The evening saw actors, international models performing on a glass-topped pool, and the party's USP was Shah Rukh and Aamir Khan reciting poems for Little Master, Sachin!

Aamir, who arrived at the function along with his wife Kiran, director Raju Hirani and producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra, said, "I recited the lines `Khudi ko kar buland itna ki har takhdir se pehle khuda bande se khud pooche, bata teri raza kya hai` for Sachin. The lines fit him very well."

On the other hand, Shah Rukh recited a poem that his daughter wrote for Sachin.

All the praises apparently made Sachin really emotional. Talking about the party, Rajeev Shukla, Vice President of BCCI, said, "The party was arranged for Sachin for completing 20 years of cricket. It was a great function. Everyone`s praises for Sachin, made him emotional."

To pep up the show, there were performances by Rani Mukerji, Priyanka Chopra, Shamita Shetty, Diya Mirza, who danced to tunes choreographed by Ganesh Hegde.

The Indian cricket team was joined by former cricketers Sunil Gavaskar and Ravi Shashtri and six players of the Sri Lankan team sometime later during the party. Nevertheless, Sachin, who had come along with his family, seemed thankful and was the last one to leave the party.

Being SRK: The ultimate reality TV show

It's a job most Indians would die for — shadowing Shah Rukh Khan wherever he goes. For the last two months, that's exactly what a TV crew has been doing, following the country's biggest star from South Africa to America to London to Mumbai — all for the making of a unique six-part series on the actor, to be telecast on lifestyle channel Discovery Travel & Living. "It's an inner world-outer world kind of documentary," said Khan, speaking exclusively to HT. "Hopefully, the parts that people will get to see of me — at work and at other places — will shed some light on how films and film stars work and offer an insight into how I do things." Khan said he has got to know the crew quite well ("They have been very unobtrusive"). For Discovery Travel & Living, this series will be one of the biggest global productions to come out of India and will be shown all over the world. "We haven't yet decided when we're going to telec...
