I can't wait to roll on the floor with AbRam, says Shah Rukh Khan

Now that his Chennai Express has safely journeyed the box-office, Shah Rukh Khan is looking forward to savouring some sweet moments at home with his newborn AbRam, before getting headlong into the shooting for his next film Happy New Year next month.

Time tales
Khan — who became dad for the third time in May this year admits that he has hardly got to spend any time with AbRam because of health issues but he shares that the premature infant's health is improving with each passing day.

The new father shares, "I don't spend much time with AbRam. I hardly see him. I am not allowed to see him too much as he has to be infection free for another one month."

AROUND THE HOUSE
SRK, however, adds that he is waiting for the day when the tot will be allowed to roam around freely in the house, as he is still kept under close observation in a sterilised room to avoid infection, "I'd like to roll with him on the ground, yeah that's what I'm really looking forward to, playing with him... Insha'Allah, by next month he should be good to move around in the house. I see him once or twice a day. I will be most relieved when I see him in regular parts of the house though."

MY KIDS, MY FRIENDS
Talking about fatherhood again, he says, "I have always enjoyed fatherhood a lot because I've always had a desire to have friends and now I have three of them. So it's nice. One of them is really small but it's good. We can treat him as we want.

The other two are grown up now and they are my friends. When I went out on Eid with them, I felt so safe, strangely owned and protected by my own. My son and my daughter were standing by my side and I feel very proud of the fact that there is someone to look after me. Though I will make sure and I hope that never happens as a father, I will always take care of them.

But you know that if something is ever needed they are there for their father. They are not over the top with me, that 'you are great' nothing of that sort. But I have enjoyed maximum with them. There is nothing that I enjoy more and I have tasted everything... I have been around. I have seen a lot of life and I really, really feel at the end of it all, the things that I own are my three children. Things that will always own me are my three children.

This, I think, will be forever. I know there is no permanence in a lot of things but this is for keeps and this I really enjoy. I like the innocence, the silliness and then becoming more mature... having conversations with me telling stories every day. My daughter wakes me up at seven when I've slept at five to tell me about her football match, her ballet.

My son has been very angry because I forced him to come out and take photographs in the public (on Eid); and I am trying to work it out with him and we are on a good wicket. We read the namaaz together now and I know as children they have issues of wearing Indian clothes and stuff, but it's fun, I am more excited about getting the namaaz done than the film collections.

So for me the children are the greatest friends and I think there will be no other permanent relationship I will have except with my kids in a strange sense, of course there's wife, sister and friends. But the one that is strangely permanent is children."

Being SRK: The ultimate reality TV show

It's a job most Indians would die for — shadowing Shah Rukh Khan wherever he goes. For the last two months, that's exactly what a TV crew has been doing, following the country's biggest star from South Africa to America to London to Mumbai — all for the making of a unique six-part series on the actor, to be telecast on lifestyle channel Discovery Travel & Living. "It's an inner world-outer world kind of documentary," said Khan, speaking exclusively to HT. "Hopefully, the parts that people will get to see of me — at work and at other places — will shed some light on how films and film stars work and offer an insight into how I do things." Khan said he has got to know the crew quite well ("They have been very unobtrusive"). For Discovery Travel & Living, this series will be one of the biggest global productions to come out of India and will be shown all over the world. "We haven't yet decided when we're going to telec...
