Chennai Express crosses Rs 100 cr mark in 3 days of its release, creates history

Shah Rukh Khan's latest release Chennai Express created history by entering the elite Rs 100 crore club within three days of its release.

The movie directed by Rohit Shetty had a rocking start at the box office all over India and overseas.

In India, Chennai Express, which also features Deepika Padukone, collected Rs 6.75 cr in paid previews on Thursday itself. Overall the movie managed to collect a whopping Rs 67.92 cr in just two days including the paid previews.

The movie did very well over the weekend and with Sunday's figures finally out the movie has already crossed the Rs 100 crore.

Taran further tweeted if Chennai Express is able to cross the Rs 100 crore mark "it will be the *first* Hindi film to attain this enviable, unimaginable status in the opening weekend itself. This will be HISTORIC."

The movie is also doing exceptionally well in neighbouring Pakistan.

A solo release this weekend, Chennai Express opened with 3,500 prints in India and 700 plus screens overseas.

The film produced by UTV Motion Pictures and SRK's production company Red Chillies, has released in 50 plus countries including places like Morocco, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, France, Israel and Peru. (With PTI inputs)
