SRK has his eyes set on 2011

Superstar is the most abused epithet in Bollywood. The phrase-strapped fourth estate uses it to describe star sons, non-actors, average performers and muscle-men. However, when you say the words King Khan or the Badshah of Bollywood, only one name springs to mind — Shah Rukh Khan.

And 2010 saw SRK score many goals. He partnered Karan Johar on My Name is Khan, a film that went on to become the highest overseas Bollywood grosser, in which his superlative performance silenced critics who have often accused him of using only his charisma on screen.

He led his IPL team to better averages than in previous years; his team is also one of the most cash-rich cricket franchises.

When a political party tried to bulldoze him, he simply refused to bow to pressure. In his inimitable style, SRK reigned.

The only ones who had complaints against him are his fans who felt they didn't get to see enough of him. As the sun set on 2010, SRK promised that in the New Year all this is about to change.

In the next 365 days, SRK will release his most ambitious home production RA One, and he will also capture Christmas Eve with Don-2. A trade source says, "He may also do a film for veteran Yash Chopra in March, and is committed to do Two States with Vishal Bharadwaj around July.''

"It's an inner world-outer world kind of documentary," said Khan, speaking exclusively to HT. "Hopefully, the parts that people will get to see of me — at work and at other places — will shed some light on how films and film stars work and offer an insight into how I do things." Khan said he has got to know the crew quite well ("They have been very unobtrusive"). For Discovery Travel & Living, this series will be one of the biggest global productions to come out of India and will be shown all over the world. "We haven't yet decided when we're going to telec...
