No guts, no glory says Shah Rukh Khan

"No guts, no glory." That was Kolkata Knight Riders

co-owner Shah Rukh Khan's immediate response to their first victory in the second edition of DLF Indian Premier League, a 11-run conquest (D-L method) over Kings XI Punjab at Kingsmead here on Tuesday.

Knight Riders, who were in the spotlight before the start of the season for the multiple-captaincy theory floated by Director of Cricket John Buchanan, found the winning formula after a dismal show against Deccan Chargers on Sunday.

Thanks to the blazing knock by Chris Gayle, Knight Riders were ahead of the target score in 9.2 overs when rain prevented further play. The team was 79 for one in 9.2 overs.

"My team has been in news for all the wrong reasons, including captaincy, but I am happy that we stuck together as a team," Shah Rukh Khan said. "There will be more losses in the game than in a movie, I believe that we didn't play well against Deccan Chargers but I am glad that we put up a good fight today They know how much I love them." he said.

"I received a number of hate messages during the debate (on multiple-captaincy) but I have saved all of them so that I can go back to their homes and sing Korbo Lorbo Jeetbo re," he said.

He also confessed that a lot of Kolkata fans would have been disappointed by the performance of Knight Riders last season and in the opening match in the second edition against Deccan Chargers. "I want to barge in Kolkata with the IPL trophy and will have some new dance moves to show for our team song," he said.

Khan said he has got to know the crew quite well ("They have been very unobtrusive"). For Discovery Travel & Living, this series will be one of the biggest global productions to come out of India and will be shown all over the world. "We haven't yet decided when we're going to telec...
