The right Khan-didate

After directing Hrithik Roshan in Kites and signing Ranbir Kapoor for his next film Silence, director Anurag Basu manages a hat trick by signing Shah Rukh Khan. The movie will be produced by Shah Rukh's Red Chillies Entertainment. The two got cracking on a concept recently and the meeting left Anurag Basu a happy man.

A source reveals, "Shah Rukh and Anurag have met several times at various events. They both have common interests and have discussed cinema at length.

Both have shown keen interest in working together. Finally, a proper meeting was arranged between the two and they have finalised a script."

While the idea remains a work-in-progress, the partnership seems firm. The source continues, "Shah Rukh has liked Anurag's movie and likes his different take on cinema. Shah Rukh is open to experimenting with roles.

Currently, he is working on Anubhav Sinha's Ra.One which is a complete special effects film, very different from what he has done in the past. Anurag and the star discussed several ideas. They are still finalising the concept."

At least Anurag is not wasting time mourning the Kites debacle. "At the moment, Anurag is busy with Silence starring Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra.

He is auditioning for a new face for the role that Katrina opted out of.

After he is done with Silence, and Shah Rukh finishes Ra.One, they will get going with their project," adds the source.

Both Shah Rukh and Anurag Basu remained unavailable for comment.

Khan said he has got to know the crew quite well ("They have been very unobtrusive"). For Discovery Travel & Living, this series will be one of the biggest global productions to come out of India and will be shown all over the world. "We haven't yet decided when we're going to telec...
