SRK takes to doodling

Shah Rukh Khan is leaving no stone unturned for his forthcoming film RA.One. So much so, that the star himself has started doodling the storyboard for the film along with artist Atul Chouthmal.

Khan insisted that Atul was called back after the director Anubhav Sinha got a new storyboard artist from Hollywood.

When contacted, Atul said, "I had already signed the contract with Red Chillies and had worked on the film.

However, they hired a Hollywood artist who had worked on films like Spiderman. He had a different vision and SRK sir was keen on me as he wanted someone from Mumbai.

He thought that someone from the city would know the roads well.

And all this happened even before I met SRK. I was called at Yash Raj Studios where he met me. He then took me to Filmcity in his car where we discussed the work. He had already doodled many sketches and he was very clear on how he wanted to go about the storyboard.

I used to have creative sessions with him before every schedule and then with Anubhav Sinha. The work has really turned out good."

"We used a Spiderman toy to make everyone understand the shot. More than 50 per cent of the crew were foreigners and the storyboard went a long way in explaining things to them. It was an amazing experience working with SRK.

I made a sketch of him and presented it to him. It is now a part of the wall in Mannat," added Atul who has earlier worked in over 20 Bollywood films including Veer, Krazzy 4, Kites, Love Story 2050, 1.40 Ki Last Local and Being Cyrus.

Being SRK: The ultimate reality TV show

For the last two months, that's exactly what a TV crew has been doing, following the country's biggest star from South Africa to America to London to Mumbai — all for the making of a unique six-part series on the actor, to be telecast on lifestyle channel Discovery Travel & Living. "It's an inner world-outer world kind of documentary," said Khan, speaking exclusively to HT. "Hopefully, the parts that people will get to see of me — at work and at other places — will shed some light on how films and film stars work and offer an insight into how I do things." Khan said he has got to know the crew quite well ("They have been very unobtrusive"). For Discovery Travel & Living, this series will be one of the biggest global productions to come out of India and will be shown all over the world. "We haven't yet decided when we're going to telec...
