Shah Rukh visits car showroom as part of sponsorship deal

Shah Rukh Khan visited Naza Italia recently to pay a courtesy call on Datuk SM Faisal Tan Sri SM Nasimuddin, the joint group executive chairman of Naza group of companies, his wife, Datin Emilia Hanafi and the group's senior management team.

The leading Bollywood heartthrob is in town for the filming of his new movie Don II: The Chase Continues. The visit was part of a sponsorship deal inked between Naza World and producers of the new movie.

Naza World provided four Mercedes-Benz cars and 10 Kia Preggio as personal transportation and logistics equipment while a Porsche Cayenne and one Ducati Monster were used in the filming of the movie in Langkawi.

This is Shah Rukh's second visit to Naza World. He first visited the country's largest car showroom back in 2006 when he was filming Don: The Chase Begins Again, which was a remake of the 1970s super-hit.

Grand welcome: Shah Rukh (with ponytail), Faisal (in lightcoloured jacket) and 'Don II' producer Ritesh Sidhawani touring Naza World.

"Naza World is proud to be associated with Don II as I believe this movie will be a superhit just like Don.

"Naza World participated in the filming of the first movie and it is only natural that we stepped forward again. Hindi movies have a huge following in Malaysia and Datuk Shah Rukh Khan is a household name here. As such the success of the movie is very much guaranteed," Faisal said.

He added that he was privileged to be able to rekindle ties with Shah Rukh, who was a friend of his late father.

"Shah Rukh Khan was invited to visit Naza World in 2006 by my late father and they became friends after that. I hope today will be the beginning of a long friendship between us," he added.

Shah Rukh was treated to a high-tea reception at the showroom before being ushered to the Naza Italia Lifetsyle showroom, which housed the Ferrari and Maserati supercars.

He was also taken on a tour of the Harley Davidson showroom.

At the end of the tour, Faisal presented Shah Rukh a memento to signify his visit.

Shah Rukh expressed his admiration for Faisal. "He's a capable young man and being in charge of such a huge company is a huge responsibility. His achievements so far is a testament of his capabilities. His late father would have been very proud of him."

Don II also stars Priyanka Chopra, Boman Irani and Om Puri, who will be reprising their roles from the previous film, with Lara Dutta and Kunal Kapoor playing new characters.

Malaysian actor Ady Putra, is also playing a role in the movie.

Khan said he has got to know the crew quite well ("They have been very unobtrusive"). For Discovery Travel & Living, this series will be one of the biggest global productions to come out of India and will be shown all over the world. "We haven't yet decided when we're going to telec...
