"Ra. One' was physically demanding" Arjun

A lot is being said and written about how Shahrukh Khan has gone for a complete transformation in 'Ra. One' and how the film has been designed as the biggest film ever churned out of the country. Since the film is about a superhero, there is also a super-baddie which is being played by Arjun Rampal. The man has his own stories to tell as he had to give his all in order to be a perfect fit in the film. Not just was he required to concentrate on the film's shooting for weeks at stretch; he also went through a rigorous physical transformation to go with the character that he is playing.

"Yes, it was physically a very demanding part," agrees Arjun who has been seen in action flicks like 'Elaan', 'Ek Ajnabee' and 'Asambhav' before, "There was a certain level of fitness which was required on my part to make this character look extremely believable. Anubhav and Shah Rukh were clear that I had to stand out to make the overall film look great."

It wasn't easy though as Arjun had to go through a three and a half months of training to get into a physical shape which was acceptable for 'Ra. One'.

"It doesn't just happen overnight," smiles Arjun, "There was an intensive training that I had to go through to become the character that goes with the film. I believe it was truly amazing to be going through this grill. It would be all worth it if the audience appreciates that as well."

Well Arjun, even though it is going to be quite some time from now, we are willing to wait.

Being SRK: The ultimate reality TV show

For the last two months, that's exactly what a TV crew has been doing, following the country's biggest star from South Africa to America to London to Mumbai — all for the making of a unique six-part series on the actor, to be telecast on lifestyle channel Discovery Travel & Living. "It's an inner world-outer world kind of documentary," said Khan, speaking exclusively to HT. "Hopefully, the parts that people will get to see of me — at work and at other places — will shed some light on how films and film stars work and offer an insight into how I do things." Khan said he has got to know the crew quite well ("They have been very unobtrusive"). For Discovery Travel & Living, this series will be one of the biggest global productions to come out of India and will be shown all over the world. "We haven't yet decided when we're going to telec...
