Shah Rukh defends CWG Committee on Twitter

Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan has defended the attempts made by the Commonwealth Games Committee on the microblogging site Twitter.

Just days after the actor had tweeted about how religious fanaticism is unreasonable, he posted , "i hope we indians realize how difficult it is to build stadiums & respect & so easy to break monuments & disrespect each others beliefs".

The latter part of the statement referring to the Ayodhya verdict that is yet awaited.

Shah Rukh is not the first celebrity to come forward and express his opinion on the Games, though others have not been as charitable as him.

Recently, Shilpa Shetty tweeted "News that things are falling apart a week before the games begin and how! Athletes are pulling out due to health and safety concerns...just makes me cringe. This could have been a great opportunity to make our country proud. Unfortunately CWG hasn't brought us the pride and honour we thought it would."

Other Bollywood celebs, like Kunal Kapoor, Dia Mirza, Mandira Bedi and Arjun Rampal, have lashed out at the government for its poor organistaion for the sporting event on Twitter as well.

However, SRK is the one of the few celebrities to speak out in favour of the attempts by the committee.

What remains to be seen is if Shah Rukh's support for the games inspires the other celebs to follow suit.

Khan said he has got to know the crew quite well ("They have been very unobtrusive"). For Discovery Travel & Living, this series will be one of the biggest global productions to come out of India and will be shown all over the world. "We haven't yet decided when we're going to telec...
