IPL: KKR appoint Venky Mysore as CEO


The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have appointed Venky Mysore, as the team's new Chief Executive Offficer (CEO) and Managing Director (MD). Mysore has an experience of over 25 years working in the financial sector.

"As managing director, he will take full responsibility for the operations of the franchise and become a member of the board," a statement from the IPL franchise said.

Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan, the principal owner of KKR, said that the appointment of Mysore will help the franchise towards "our vision for building a world class franchise".

"I feel that the time has come to take the KKR franchise to the next level and work towards globalising the sport and professionalising the franchise. The experience and skill sets that Venky brings will help us work towards our vision for building a world-class franchise," Shah Rukh said.

KKR co-owner Jay Mehta said the new CEO not only brings wealth of professional experience but also passion for cricket, having played university cricket.

"I am thrilled to have this opportunity of working with the entire KKR organisation, which has demonstrated the passion for the game, strong commitment to the sports loving community and a desire to professionalise the franchise," said Mysore, who was till recently the India Country Head of Sun Life Financial, Canada.
