Shah Rukh rescues Ra.One

With Bobby Chawla's illness disrupting shooting, he takes over all the grunt work to ensure shooting continues and one else is overburdened

Shah Rukh Khan is definitely missing his friend Bobby Chawla, but he is doing all he can to ensure Bobby's illness does not burden the rest of Ra.One's team. Instead of thrusting Bobby's duties on someone else from his team, Shah Rukh has now decided to take on the majority share of Bobby's duties, with director Anubhav Sinha helping out whenever he can. He has taken up the active duties of producer, even calling up the other actors and coordinating their dates, making sure their fee reaches them as decided, discussing the necessary details with the foreign and Indian technicians and then doing his scenes too.

Shah Rukh's friend and Juhi's brother Bobby Chawla, who is the CEO of Red Chillies Entertainment, was supposed to handle the duties of the producer. That way, Shah Rukh had to only concentrate on his acting. But unfortunately, Bobby suffered a brain haemorrhage early this month and had to be hospitalised. This disrupted the entire shooting schedule of Ra.One. But with Shah Rukh taking on all the extra duties, he has ensured things run smoothly now on and no one has reason to complain.

Ra.One is Shah Rukh's first superhero film. He plays a videogame developer who suddenly finds himself having to battle virtual villains in the real world. Kareena Kapoor, Arjun Rampal and Shahana Goswami also star in the film.

Being SRK: The ultimate reality TV show

"It's an inner world-outer world kind of documentary," said Khan, speaking exclusively to HT. "Hopefully, the parts that people will get to see of me — at work and at other places — will shed some light on how films and film stars work and offer an insight into how I do things." Khan said he has got to know the crew quite well ("They have been very unobtrusive"). For Discovery Travel & Living, this series will be one of the biggest global productions to come out of India and will be shown all over the world. "We haven't yet decided when we're going to telec...
