Mumbai film studios to continue shooting despite H1N1 shutdown

Bollywood's leading film studios will continue with their shooting schedules though schools, colleges, cinema halls and malls in the city will be shut down from Thursday for a week to contain the spread of swine flu.

'All shooting schedules are going on according to previous bookings. As of now, no shoots have been cancelled due to any flu scare,' Parvesh Shinde, booking manager of Film City, told IANS.

Rajinder K. Ridlan, booking manager for Mehboob Studio added: 'All shootings are going on and no shoots have been cancelled.'

Sunil Amin, booking manager at Kamal Amrohi Studio, asserted: 'This is already a laid-back period due to monsoons and recession and there is not much shooting happening. However, swine flu has got nothing to do with the filming process as a film, if it has to be shot, will be shot under any circumstances. Hence everything is taking place as per schedule.'

An official from R.K. Studio said: 'Our work is going on the normal way... film shootings don't stop.'

A representative from Filmistan Studio, Goregaon, confirmed shooting for Himesh Reshammiya's next 'Radio' will be on. The source also informed that despite the swine flu alert, the studio was booked for Dharma Production's Shah Rukh Khan starrer 'My Name Is Khan' -- the set for which was being prepared.

While Shinde and Amin didn't reveal the names of the films currently being shot at their studios, industry sources said Mehboob Studios is booked for two films -- Salman Khan starrer 'Veer' and Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Guzarish'.

The Maharashtra government Wednesday announced a weeklong closure for educational institutions and public places in this metropolis to curb the spread of the H1N1 virus.

For the last two months, that's exactly what a TV crew has been doing, following the country's biggest star from South Africa to America to London to Mumbai — all for the making of a unique six-part series on the actor, to be telecast on lifestyle channel Discovery Travel & Living. "It's an inner world-outer world kind of documentary," said Khan, speaking exclusively to HT. "Hopefully, the parts that people will get to see of me — at work and at other places — will shed some light on how films and film stars work and offer an insight into how I do things." Khan said he has got to know the crew quite well ("They have been very unobtrusive"). For Discovery Travel & Living, this series will be one of the biggest global productions to come out of India and will be shown all over the world. "We haven't yet decided when we're going to telec
