The screams reached near ear-shattering decibels Friday as Shahrukh Khan, the man known as Bollywood's Brad Pitt, arrived in Toronto for this weekend's 12th annual International Indian Film Awards.
Thousands of screaming supporters jammed Pearson Airport to welcome the man fans call "King Khan."
The madness continued as a crush of admirers, media and security accompanied Khan to the Fairmont Royal York Hotel. Later Friday, Khan will be at Toronto's City Hall to meet with Mayor Rob Ford. He will be presented with a special scroll and Toronto flag by the mayor inside the council chambers. Khan will also meet with Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre as part of the IIFA celebrations.
This is the first year the awards are being held in North America.
