Director No. 4 for Ra.One!

Karan Johar and Yash Chopra directed songs for Shah Rukh Khan's Ra.One last year. And now, Dostana director Tarun Mansukhani is in Hyderabad 'helping' director Anubhav Sinha helm the film.

Says a source, "SRK and Kareena Kapoor were shooting there with Anubhav directing. Everything seemed fine till Tarun got an SOS call from SRK asking him to fly out to help them. People are already wondering which director's name will go in the credits."

Sinha reacts, "It's insulting to Shah Rukh, Karan, Tarun and me to answer such questions. This is an important sequence. I don't think Tarun would do this for any lesser friends than Karan and SRK. It's a big sequence and everyone is pitching in to see how they can help. What more can you expect from a friend? The day I'm not the director, it will be Shah Rukh Khan who will say this to everybody else."

Anubhav explains further, "Shah Rukh is missing his right hands on the film. While Bobby Chawla is in hospital, his other deputy, Karim Morani, is in judicial custody. Also my first assistant director, Vaibhav Mishra is getting married on June 24 and leaving the set tomorrow. So what do we do? We need help and so we ask for it from our friends. One phone call from Shah Rukh and Tarun flew down to help us. He's been gracious enough and is helping us, in every way he can. Yesterday I gave him a big hug after we wrapped the last shot."

"I haven't directed a film in the last five years, and am living, breathing and working on my biggest film. This film is a huge investment, and my biggest challenge till date. We need friends and well wishers for a film like this! I love Tarun for doing this."

Being SRK: The ultimate reality TV show

It's a job most Indians would die for — shadowing Shah Rukh Khan wherever he goes. For the last two months, that's exactly what a TV crew has been doing, following the country's biggest star from South Africa to America to London to Mumbai — all for the making of a unique six-part series on the actor, to be telecast on lifestyle channel Discovery Travel & Living. "It's an inner world-outer world kind of documentary," said Khan, speaking exclusively to HT. "Hopefully, the parts that people will get to see of me — at work and at other places — will shed some light on how films and film stars work and offer an insight into how I do things." Khan said he has got to know the crew quite well ("They have been very unobtrusive"). For Discovery Travel & Living, this series will be one of the biggest global productions to come out of India and will be shown all over the world. "We haven't yet decided when we're going to telec...
