'I wear a heart'

Shah Rukh's favourite line in Ra.One has been penned by Kanika Dhillon, one of the screenplay and dialogue writers of his superhero film

Shah Rukh Khan's favourite line in his film Ra.One is: "Some superheroes wear a mask, this one wears a heart."

This thought has been penned by Kanika Dhillon, one of the screenplay and dialogue writers of Ra.One. SRK, who is currently shooting for the film in London, plays the role of a superhero called G.One.

On a microblogging site SRK states: "My favourite written thought by Kanika in the context to G.One is... most superheroes wear a mask...I wear a heart."

Kanika says, "It was instinctive given SRK's larger-than-life persona and a huge heart. There was no other suitable line that came to my mind."

Apart from writing for Shah Rukh Khan's film, Kanika is also turning author with her first book Bombay Duck Is A Fish.

The young writer finds SRK a big source of inspiration. "He is a superhero both in reel and real life. I always wanted to begin writing for Bollywood with him and he gave me a chance."

Working on the star's production, which is directed by Anubhav Sinha, has been a fantastic learning experience for her.

Kanika has also co-written the screenplay for Roshan Abbas' directorial debut Always Kabhie Kabhie, and Ishaan, a musical show for Disney.

Apart from writing for the film, Kanika is also turning author with her first book Bombay Duck Is A Fish. "It's about finding love and spirituality and finding your true self in a very unlikely place called Bollywood."

Kanika, who has done her MSc in media and communications from the London School of Economics, feels writing a book is a different journey altogether.

"Writing a book is more opinionated than screenplay or dialogue writing.

There is only one voice that resonates in a book, but screenplay and dialogue in a film is a team effort where many visions and opinions are amalgamated into a cohesive format."

Being SRK: The ultimate reality TV show

It's a job most Indians would die for — shadowing Shah Rukh Khan wherever he goes. For the last two months, that's exactly what a TV crew has been doing, following the country's biggest star from South Africa to America to London to Mumbai — all for the making of a unique six-part series on the actor, to be telecast on lifestyle channel Discovery Travel & Living. "It's an inner world-outer world kind of documentary," said Khan, speaking exclusively to HT. "Hopefully, the parts that people will get to see of me — at work and at other places — will shed some light on how films and film stars work and offer an insight into how I do things." Khan said he has got to know the crew quite well ("They have been very unobtrusive"). For Discovery Travel & Living, this series will be one of the biggest global productions to come out of India and will be shown all over the world. "We haven't yet decided when we're going to telec...
