SRK, Kareena out of Meydan concert

Bollywood's King Khan has pulled out of the grand finale of Shoppiesta scheduled at Meydan later this month.

Shah Rukh Khan will not be performing at the 'We R. One', according to a '7Days' report.

Kareena Kapoor and Arjun Rampal will also not participate.

According to the organisers the reason for the cancellations was because the stars were unavailable on the required dates.

This website had reported how Eid celebrations in Dubai this year promised to be a memorable one, with a bevy of international stars making their way to our shores.

The shoppiesta consumer fair was billed arguably as the largest party, with American rapper and actor Curtis Jackson aka 50 Cent also on the cards.

Arab fans are to be wowed by Eid regular, Nancy Ajram.

Things will kick off with an Arabic night on August 31 featuring Ajram alongside Melheim Zein; the following evening will see Filipino pop group South Border.

On September 2, Iran's famous talent Googoosh will take to the stage, while Indian musicans Shankar Mahadevan and Hariharan will perform on September 3.

The event was to come to a grand finale the following night with the Bollywood brigade, Khan, Chopra and Kapoor, alongwith 50 Cent.

Another musical spectacle scheduled for Eid features cross border musicians, with Pakistan's Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, who will croon alongside Shafqat Ali Khan. And adding to the glam quotient will be Indian singer, Richa Sharma of "Sajda" fame from "My Name is Khan".

Called Eid-E-Milan, the September 9 event, is being held at the Dubai World Trade Centre and has been organised by Cyclops Communication. Tickets start at Dh140 and go up to Dh1,400. Show starts at 9pm.

Lastly, also expected in town during those very days is the award winning Indian singer, Sonu Niigam, who is most certainly going to demand a full house. More details for this event have yet to emerge.

For the last two months, that's exactly what a TV crew has been doing, following the country's biggest star from South Africa to America to London to Mumbai — all for the making of a unique six-part series on the actor, to be telecast on lifestyle channel Discovery Travel & Living. "It's an inner world-outer world kind of documentary," said Khan, speaking exclusively to HT. "Hopefully, the parts that people will get to see of me — at work and at other places — will shed some light on how films and film stars work and offer an insight into how I do things." Khan said he has got to know the crew quite well ("They have been very unobtrusive"). For Discovery Travel & Living, this series will be one of the biggest global productions to come out of India and will be shown all over the world. "We haven't yet decided when we're going to telec...
