Twitterverse abuzz over SRK-Sena debate

Reactions went to and fro in the SRK-Sena scandal over a party Shah Rukh Khan threw at his residence to reportedly celebrate Katrina Kaif's birthday, soon after the Mumbai blasts. Bal Thackeray, through Sena mouthpiece Saamna, criticised Shah Rukh for being insensitive and celebrating while people were dying in the blasts.

Twitterverse has reportedly been abuzz since, with fans rooting for the superstar and Sena afficionados and others slamming him.

Sahil Juneja, 22-year-old restauranteur and entrepreneur offers an explanation, "but that's also a possibility k party pehle start ho gai aur attacks baad me hue.. Haan?? Isme bura manne wali kya baat hai.."

And 19-year-old Ayesha is quick to jump to the King Khan's defence, "Let them tell us what they have done for the victims. They could have collected contributions from all Shiv Sena members and helped the poor victims. I don't think Shah Rukh has shown disrespect to the bomb blasts victims. He is a great hero, and has respect for every one."

Some say that it is unfair to criticise Shah Rukh for throwing a party in the wake of the blasts.

"It is not right to say that just because he attended a party he showed disrespect to the victims."

Another SRK fan spoke up on behalf of his idol saying, "I am sure, silently he must have prayed or even supported or met the families. Only negative news comes in the media; we rarely get to see anything positive about celebrities."

Meanwhile, Shah Rukh Khan has kept mum through the whole debate.

"It's an inner world-outer world kind of documentary," said Khan, speaking exclusively to HT. "Hopefully, the parts that people will get to see of me — at work and at other places — will shed some light on how films and film stars work and offer an insight into how I do things." Khan said he has got to know the crew quite well ("They have been very unobtrusive"). For Discovery Travel & Living, this series will be one of the biggest global productions to come out of India and will be shown all over the world. "We haven't yet decided when we're going to telec...
