SRK is a charmer: Sanaa Khan

Model-turned-actress Sanaa Khan has had a lot on her plate recently.

She has shared screen space with Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar, and cricketers M.S. Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh, has endorsed 13-odd brands including Play Station and watches and forayed into both Tollywood and Kollywood.

About working with celebrities, she says, "Shah Rukh Khan is a charmer and also down-to-earth, while Akshay Kumar is a complete prankster, Dhoni is quite reserved and Yuvraj was at his flamboyant best, so I cherished every moment." But her dream for a smooth transition between modelling and acting was shattered as her two Telugu films, Kathi and Gaganam, sank at the box office. She is now banking on the entertainer, Mr Nokia, opposite Manoj Manchu.

Sanaa has also made her mark in Kollywood with big films like Silambattam and Payyanam. On working and being linked to Simbu, the actress says, "Rather than denying or accepting allegations of a fling, I'll leave it to the imagination of viewers. Fighting the media is a futile effort." She has also acted in the Kannada film, Kool, with Ganesh and is set to work with Jr. NTR. "It will be a great opportunity but nothing is finalised yet," she says.

Unlike many of her contemporaries, she has strict rules about kissing and wearing a bikini on-screen. "I am game for glam-centric roles but I do draw a line. Unless the director convinces me otherwise I will not indulge in skin show and kissing," she explains. Currently, she is concentrating on honing her acting prowess and also mastering Telugu. "Acting is more challenging than modelling; you need to hold the audiences' interest longer. I would like to be remembered as a performer rather than a glam doll," she says. She also likes being in Hyderabad. "The city has its share of swanky pubs and I have been to a few places. It is a rare blend of tradition and modern and I adore the specialty cuisines you get," she concludes.

"It's an inner world-outer world kind of documentary," said Khan, speaking exclusively to HT. "Hopefully, the parts that people will get to see of me — at work and at other places — will shed some light on how films and film stars work and offer an insight into how I do things." Khan said he has got to know the crew quite well ("They have been very unobtrusive"). For Discovery Travel & Living, this series will be one of the biggest global productions to come out of India and will be shown all over the world. "We haven't yet decided when we're going to telec...
