K-Jo creates New York in Mumbai for SRK

The production team of My Name Is Khan has taken on a daunting challenge. They have recreated New York in a studio in Mumbai and are shooting a flood scene in it.

Karan Johar, who is the co-producer and director of the film, has reportedly asked for several thousand litres of water to be used to create the artificial flood. Water tankers have been pumping gallons of water on the sets.

The scene, though set in the US, is being shot in Mumbai for logistical reasons.

Since the movie's set is submerged in waist-high water, Karan has also asked designer Shiraj Siddiqui to create water-proof outfits for the shooting crew. The director apparently doesn't want to compromise on the health of his crew.

However, Shahrukh Khan and Kajol, the film's leading stars, won't get any of these waterproof outfits because they would have to be dressed as the characters they play in 'My Name Is Khan'.

Also since shooting in water is not risk-free, all necessary precautions are reportedly being taken to avoid any accident.

Johar is keeping tightlipped about the shoot because it's an important sequence in the film.

Khan said he has got to know the crew quite well ("They have been very unobtrusive"). For Discovery Travel & Living, this series will be one of the biggest global productions to come out of India and will be shown all over the world. "We haven't yet decided when we're going to telec...
