'SLAM! The Tour!': 'Happy New Year' Stars Shah Rukh, Deepika Set the Stage on Fire

Touted as the biggest Bollywood extravaganza, Shah Rukh Khan's 'SLAM! The Tour' has so far received an overwhelming response from live audiences.

The tour, which kick-started its journey on 19 September at the Toyota Center, Houston, has successfully set high standards for film promotions. The first stop was followed by some crackling performances by the "Happy New Year" lead cast in Continental Arena, New Jersey, and Washington DC on Sunday.

Performing at the dance tour are: Deepika Padukone, Malaika Arora Khan, Farah Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Boman Irani, Sonu Sood, Vivaan Shah, Kanika Kapoor and Yo Yo Honey Singh.

According to an India Today report, while the 48-year-old superstar charmed his fans by dancing to some of his hit numbers ("Chammak Challo", "Kaali Kaali Aankhe", and "Suraj Hua Maddham"), Irani-Farah reportedly put a hilarious act, which reflected their amazing chemistry in "Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi". Padukone, on the other hand, set the stage on fire with her moves on "Lovely" and "Angeji Beat" song.

The audience was also fortunate as they caught a glimpse of the sizzling chemistry that Shah Rukh and Padukone share, as they performed to "Satrangi Re" from "Dil Se".

Taking it a step further, music director Ram Sampath reportedly composed an anthem for the tour. "Working on the Slam track was a blast! As per the brief, we went for stadium scale hip-hop in order to capture the grandeur & energy of the SLAM tour. When Earl Edgar laid down a high octane rap which complimented my singing really well, we knew we were home. Enjoy SLAM!," Sampath told Indian Express.

Calling it an opportunity to give back the love he has received, Shah Rukh reportedly said that he was blessed to be loved by so many people across the globe.

Revealing the dates, the superstar had posted on Twitter the first leg of the schedule: 26 September – Sears Center Arena, Chicago; 27 September - Pacific National Exhibition (PNE), Vancouver; and 28 September – SAP Center, San Jose.

It's a job most Indians would die for — shadowing Shah Rukh Khan wherever he goes. For the last two months, that's exactly what a TV crew has been doing, following the country's biggest star from South Africa to America to London to Mumbai — all for the making of a unique six-part series on the actor, to be telecast on lifestyle channel Discovery Travel & Living. "It's an inner world-outer world kind of documentary," said Khan, speaking exclusively to HT. "Hopefully, the parts that people will get to see of me — at work and at other places — will shed some light on how films and film stars work and offer an insight into how I do things." Khan said he has got to know the crew quite well ("They have been very unobtrusive"). For Discovery Travel & Living, this series will be one of the biggest global productions to come out of India and will be shown all over the world. "We haven't yet decided when we're going to telec
