SRK kills Sinha’s bill

Every now and then Shah Rukh Khan will remind us of why he still wears the crown of the King.

At a time when his tumultuous relationship with close friends has been the topic of much debate and public scrutiny, SRK has been quietly taking care of people who really matter to him. One of them happens to be director Anubhav Sinha, who helped him realise one of his long-cherished dreams, RA.One.

The film's fortunes have not in the least bit affected their friendship, which has survived the vagaries of the box office.

Mumbai Mirror has learnt that it was during a recent trip to London that Sinha was pleasantly surprised when SRK dropped in to visit him at Courthouse Hotel in central London.

A source close to the director told Mirror that SRK and Sinha chatted for nearly two hours, before the star left.

However, there was a bigger surprise for Sinha, who prepared to check out of the hotel on Monday at 5 am. Apparently, SRK had cleared his bill amounting to Rs 1.95 lakh. Apparently, SRK, on his way out, had quietly enquired with the hotel management about Sinha's expenses, and over an email that night, settled the dues.

A surprised Sinha checked with the reception several times to ensure there were no mistake. And every time he was given the same answer: SRK had paid for his three-day hotel stay. It then occurred to Sinha that in the course of the conversation he had mentioned that he would be checking out the next day. And maybe that is when the actor decided to gift his friend a little surprise.

"Anubhav called up SRK thanking him for his magnanimous gesture. He was visibly overwhelmed," added the source.

Hope Farah and Shirish are reading this.

Being SRK: The ultimate reality TV show

It's a job most Indians would die for — shadowing Shah Rukh Khan wherever he goes. For the last two months, that's exactly what a TV crew has been doing, following the country's biggest star from South Africa to America to London to Mumbai — all for the making of a unique six-part series on the actor, to be telecast on lifestyle channel Discovery Travel & Living. "It's an inner world-outer world kind of documentary," said Khan, speaking exclusively to HT. "Hopefully, the parts that people will get to see of me — at work and at other places — will shed some light on how films and film stars work and offer an insight into how I do things." Khan said he has got to know the crew quite well ("They have been very unobtrusive"). For Discovery Travel & Living, this series will be one of the biggest global productions to come out of India and will be shown all over the world. "We haven't yet decided when we're going to telec...
