Shahrukh Khan To Shoot Don 2 In Melaka

MELAKA, Feb 15 (Bernama) -- "Yes, I promised the last time to be back here and shoot a movie and I am now here," said Bollywood sensation Shahrukh Khan.

Bestowed a "Datukship" by the Melaka State Government during his last visit here in Dec 2008, Shahrukh is in town to shoot his new movie "Don 2", a sequel of his "Don: The Chase Begins" which was released in 2006.

"We began shooting few days ago and I will be here for another two or three days to film the beginning part of the film," he told reporters at a secret location in Sungai Udang, here Tuesday.

Also present was Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam, his wife Datin Seri Asmah Abdul Rahman and the two producers of the film, Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar.

Farhan who was the producer of the first movie is also the director for Don 2, a film which is due to be released to 32 countries worldwide this December.

Shahrukh said the new film will be more slick and technically savvy as compared with the first one (Don).

"This is an action movie like "The James Bond" or "Bourne Identity" genre which will appeal to boys rather than girls," said Shahrukh who wore a white t-shirt and bright orange pant, with an unfamiliar pony tail hair to suit his character in the film.

Shahrukh, 45, looking thinner than before was in a jovial mood, cracking jokes at reporters that he missed Priyanka Chopra, the leading lady in the film who was not present since she had to return to India to promote her new film.

He said his role in the film was just like the first movie, playing a bad guy, "fooling" around with a lot of people and getting the job done.

"Just like my character in real life," he said with a sense of humour.

"Hopefully, the parts that people will get to see of me — at work and at other places — will shed some light on how films and film stars work and offer an insight into how I do things." Khan said he has got to know the crew quite well ("They have been very unobtrusive"). For Discovery Travel & Living, this series will be one of the biggest global productions to come out of India and will be shown all over the world. "We haven't yet decided when we're going to telec...
