ce director Priyadarshan has lashed out at P Vasu, who directed Kuselan and said that the "essence of the original Malayalam film Katha Parayumbol is missing in the Tamil version." He said the Billoo Barber, the Hindi version of Katha Parayumbol, that he is making will follow the original version. Priyan feels Vasu messed it up by giving more importance to Rajinikanth's superstar character. "The trouble with Kuselan is that it was made out to be a larger-than-life Rajinikanth film which it was not, and the focus of the story shifted from the main character Pasupathy, done brilliantly by Sreenivasan in the original and introduction of characters that were not there in the original." Priyan says, in Billoo Barber, SRK appears only towards the climax of the film. "My hero is Irfan Khan, who plays the role of Sreenivasan. I have not tried to heighten the impact of SRK nor tried to glorify him."

'Kuselan' has released with heightened fanfare and is running to packed houses in Tamilnadu and Andhra Pradesh. As already reported Rajinikanth's 'Kuselan' is the remake of the Malayalam film 'Katha Parayumbol' written by Sreenivasan. Another Malayalam filmmaker who has been quite successful in Hindi films as well, Priyadarshan, is remaking the film in Hindi with Shahrukh Khan and Irfan Khan in the lead roles and the movie is called 'Billoo Barber'. There was speculation in the media that 'Kuselan' would be dubbed in Hindi soon. According to this information, Shahrukh Khan was reportedly in panic because Hindi audiences would see Rajinikanth in the role he is slated to play. 'Billoo Barber is expected to be released during the Diwali season. Shah Rukh Khan reportedly was the top tax payer among actors for 2007-2008 with 34 crores in income taxes paid. A significant chunk of the actor's income is believed to be from the big payouts off the television shows like KBC and Paanchvi Paas the actor had been working for Star TV for, emphasizing the growing economic clout of television. Other major tax payers among actors included Aamir Khan (4.7 crores) and Abhishek Bachchan (5.5 crores). The year before, for 2006, the top taxpayer among actors was Hrithik Roshan. And for 2005, the top taxpayer was Amitabh Bachchan. The highest tax payer in the country overall reportedly paid Rs. 121 crores in taxes last year.
