SRK TALKS ABOUT MUMBAI TERROR

NEW DELHI: Shahrukh Khan says he was mum all this time on the Mumbai terror attacks as he had "no words" to express his feelings which

were mixed with anger, disbelief and sadness.

"I've tried to keep away from commenting on this as there are no words to express a situation like this because our feelings are mixed with anger, disbelief and sadness," the Bollywood 'badshah' says.

"Being Muslim myself, I believe youngsters need to understand and respect Islam in the right way. It's such a huge waste and my appeal to all in these times and in recent years (sic) is that please can we run what we want in terms of politics, government, jobs and teaching our children with the prime motive of taking communalism out of it," Shah Rukh told BBC Asia Network in an interview to be telecast this Saturday.

"The religion our children are born with should be something they practice as a discipline and work should be developed as the new religion. I think no agenda should be attached to any kind of religion," Shah Rukh says.

  2. Shahrukh-bhai,

    One important thing is to communicate clearly. It is sad how much time is wasted on interpreting and misinterpreting what the leaders/celebrities of India say.

    I want to emphasize here that you are a Muslimor a Hindu second and an Indian first. I am sure we are all proud of our religious identity. But I would have expected that you express solidarity with the victims and do some fundraising for our armed forces.

    Your comments can be interpreted to mean that all you care about is that Islam not be tarnished. That is just what we do not want to hear in this challenging moment because it casts you as the rest of the extremists.

    It is sad that religion is used to polarize and to demarcate our territory (promoting the ego or 'nafs' (urdu)or 'ahem'(sanskrit)) instead of uplifting the soul.

    It is up to celebrities like you to pick up the spade and address the people of India and Pakistan as also to drive charities to the Armed Forces of India. Jai Hind!

  3. Hello SRK,
    I did not like your comment on Mumbai terror attack. Today I heard your interview but I didn't get what you wanted to say. I think we should have some strong views on this sensitive matter. Next time please try to say something clearly on this matter.

  4. Peace for peace;
    Peace for war;
    Pieces are in Peace;
    when war comes for peace;

    Now if I go for peace when somebody else is declaring war, then thats another face of cowardness. Peace has ALWAYS come with expense of WAR. And I dont need to give evidences, for an educated person for that, do I? If you insist you can just scan on European History, simple as that isnt it?
    I dont know what u re trying to prove by trying to have peace with Pak. Well, may be you have a soft corner for them, probably because of your religion. Please dont think that I am saying you are not Patriotic. People normally try to mix things, when they are not in first place. India has extended hand for peace many times, just Like Lord Krishna before the great war of Bharatha. and at the end of the day Peace came at the expense of WAR. Take it or NOT, Peace is just another face of the same coin, which has to be tossed to get rid of the other face of WAR.

Being SRK: The ultimate reality TV show

It's a job most Indians would die for — shadowing Shah Rukh Khan wherever he goes. For the last two months, that's exactly what a TV crew has been doing, following the country's biggest star from South Africa to America to London to Mumbai — all for the making of a unique six-part series on the actor, to be telecast on lifestyle channel Discovery Travel & Living. "It's an inner world-outer world kind of documentary," said Khan, speaking exclusively to HT. "Hopefully, the parts that people will get to see of me — at work and at other places — will shed some light on how films and film stars work and offer an insight into how I do things." Khan said he has got to know the crew quite well ("They have been very unobtrusive"). For Discovery Travel & Living, this series will be one of the biggest global productions to come out of India and will be shown all over the world. "We haven't yet decided when we're going to telec...
