´Wake Up Sid´ Director´s Shah Rukh Khan Moment!

The director of the last Friday release, 'Wake Up Sid', Ayan Mukerjee is certainly very happy with the excellent start that his film has taken across multiplexes. Cousin to none other than queen bee, Kajol and coming from the family of the likes of Tanuja, Nutan etc, Ayan has cinema in his blood but when it comes to King Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, the director simply turns speechless.

Ayan claims to SRK's biggest fan, and even though he has worked as an assistant in two Shah Rukh Khan starrers, he still is in awe of the global superstar. He recalls that day when he complimented SRK for a shirt that he was wearing and Shah Rukh promptly removed his shirt and gifted it to him. Ayan reminisces how he slept with the shirt on for many days and that he still has it with him. And he intends to keep it with him throughout his life as it is his prized posssesion.

Naturally being a director, Ayan wishes to direct SRK one day, but he knows that this is not something that he can wish for, he will have to earn it.

Well, here's hoping that the excelent reviews and a superb box-office start to his debut film, 'Wake Up Sid', might make King Khan sign Ayan for his next Red Chillies venture, starring himself and Ayan's cousin, Kajol.

Being SRK: The ultimate reality TV show

It's a job most Indians would die for — shadowing Shah Rukh Khan wherever he goes. For the last two months, that's exactly what a TV crew has been doing, following the country's biggest star from South Africa to America to London to Mumbai — all for the making of a unique six-part series on the actor, to be telecast on lifestyle channel Discovery Travel & Living. "It's an inner world-outer world kind of documentary," said Khan, speaking exclusively to HT. "Hopefully, the parts that people will get to see of me — at work and at other places — will shed some light on how films and film stars work and offer an insight into how I do things." Khan said he has got to know the crew quite well ("They have been very unobtrusive"). For Discovery Travel & Living, this series will be one of the biggest global productions to come out of India and will be shown all over the world. "We haven't yet decided when we're going to telec...
