Akon in city, lends voice to SRK’s Ra.1

American singer Akon arrived in the city on Monday morning to record a song for Shah Rukh Khan's next film Ra.1. Akon was whisked away from the airport to a studio where he recorded a song for composer duo Vishal-Shekhar. Akon will be here for two days and is planning to come back to the city next month for a concert with composer Aadesh Shrivastava.

Shrivastava, who is aware of Akon's arrival, said he would meet the singer on Monday evening. "I will meet him and discuss the plan. We had this idea long ago, but we are yet to finalise it on paper," said Shrivastava who is planning a three-city tour along with the R&B star.

According to sources, Akon will be crooning a few Hindi lines too in Ra.1 that is his Bollywood debut. According to Srivastava, it's not for the first time Akon is singing a Hindi song. Incidentally, the singer has already sung for Srivastava, and sung Hindi lines as well. "He may be singing for a Bollywood film for the first time, but I was the first one (here) to record a song with Akon in India. The song is titled One For The World which we plan to promote as a peace song."

After doing some death-defying stunts for sci-fi thriller " Ra.One", the actor took a 300 feet plunge while shooting for Farhan Akhtar's " Don 2" in Berlin. For the last two months, that's exactly what a TV crew has been doing, following the country's biggest star from South Africa to America to London to Mumbai — all for the making of a unique six-part series on the actor, to be telecast on lifestyle channel Discovery Travel & Living. "It's an inner world-outer world kind of documentary," said Khan, speaking exclusively to HT. "Hopefully, the parts that people will get to see of me — at work and at other places — will shed some light on how films and film stars work and offer an insight into how I do things." Khan said he has got to know the crew quite well ("They have been very unobtrusive"). For Discovery Travel & Living, this series will be one of the biggest global productions to come out of India and will be shown all over the world. "We haven't yet decided when we're going to telec...
