Red Chillies SFX Team Drawing Inspiration from Hollywood

Anubhav Sinha is making sure the Red Chillies team responsible for special effects on the upcoming Shahrukh Khan/Kareena Kapoor vehicle have done their homework.

The director wants to ensure that the special effects in the superhero film set a new benchmark for Bollywood films to aspire to – and for that, he has instructed the SFX team to study a variety of Hollywood films, each chosen for the quality of their special effects.

A source from the team says Anubhav Sinha's 'homework' list of films includes films such as Avatar, The Day After Tomorrow, 2012, X-Men and The Terminator. While Sinha is in Goa filming with Shahrukh and Kareena, and the special effects team wait for the film footage so they can begin actual SFX work, they are expected to study the various effects used in a range of Hollywood films and figure out how to implement them to the best use in Ra.One.

Khan said he has got to know the crew quite well ("They have been very unobtrusive"). For Discovery Travel & Living, this series will be one of the biggest global productions to come out of India and will be shown all over the world. "We haven't yet decided when we're going to telec...
