International Conference "Shah Rukh Khan and Global Bollywood " in Vienna

Vienna - The long period of ignorance is over, the amused Zurkenntnisnehmens also , and more or less the fashion trend that began a few years ago - now is the phenomenon of Bollywood simply perceived as what it is: in number of titles produced perhaps the greatest cultural machine measured the global film world. A multi-day conference at the Institute for Cultural and Social Anthropology, University of Vienna will now take the phenomenon more closely The approach is via the direct the film industry also , because Bollywood is also the basis for various forms of Popular culture - clothing styles , dance , music , jewelry design or Residential design - the widespread global and local are always different designed to be : It seems not just a movie division , but a lifestyle to act. Scientific research Bollywood therefore considered from different theoretical Perspectives: from the media or in art theory context of global culture and postcolonialism , but also from research post

SRK’s cop troubles

Shah Rukh Khan is leaving for Berlin around October 10 to shoot Farhan Akhtar's Don-2. The actor is likely to be away for nearly 45 days at a stretch. And he is being accompanied by his favourite girl Priyanka Chopra. What's of interest this time around is that unlike in the earlier Don, when cops of 11 countries were chasing the Don, in this sequel, the film-makers have the police force of 132 countries chasing the Bollywood Badshah. Don’t question my intelligence: SRK

SRK ke affair ki story mein ek byte communal harmony ka bhi chala do is how stars' perspectives on national issues are treated, says SRK, which is why he doesn't always say what he thinks. Except, of course, to TOI Last week, the Mumbai police asked cine stars to appeal to people to maintain communal harmony as the Babri verdict approaches. You've spoken earlier – after Emraan Hashmi's press conference on not getting a house in Mumbai – and you'd said that you have a point of view, but you're defensive about expressing it because a) it's always misinterpreted, and b) the media doesn't take a stand. Today, if approached for bytes on communal harmony, are you willing to go beyond the one-liners? Perhaps we should not be taken very seriously because we are film stars. You don't go to every engineer or doctor to take his viewpoint on communal harmony. The contrary argument to this is – oh, but you guys are public figures! My contrary argu

Shah Rukh keen for some Khichdi

The team, which like the actor, started out with a TV serial, was keen on getting his blessings for their film Khichdi–the movie. The team of the upcoming film Khichdi, based on the popular TV show of the same name, is thrilled that Shah Rukh Khan has finally responded to their numerous requests to meet. The Khichdi team, which like King Khan began tis journey with TV, has been chasing the superstar to get his blessings. They wrote a letter to the superstar to grace them with his blessings. Even the first look of the film was launched in front of Shah Rukh's mansion, Mannat. A source informs, "The team of Khichdi is excited that they will be meeting SRK. The meeting is happening at Kamalistan and the whole team of the film will be present including the producer JD Majethia and the cast Anang Desai, Rajeev Mehta and Supriya Pathak." The elated producer Majethia confirms, "Oh yes, we are meeting Mr Khan at Kamalistan. We had written him a letter.

Shahrukh Khan is wanted by the police of 132 countries

' Don ke peeche to 11 mulko ki police lagi hai, magar Don ko pakadna mushkil hi nahi namumkin hai .' That's the dialogue we all remember from Farhan Akhtar's film Don, starring Shahrukh Khan. But for Don 2 this dialogue will change to Don ke peeche to 132 mulko ki police lagi hai because the film which brings back SRK as the sly and clever don is going to be more dangerous and stylish. Ask Shahrukh why this big leap in the sequel of Don , he quips, "Times have changed so now I have police from many more countries behind me." Ironically, the star himself is scared of policemen. To be directed by Farhan Akhtar, the sequel will retain its original cast of Priyanka Chopra, Boman Irani, and will include some new names like Lara Dutta, Sameera Reddy and Kunal Kapoor. The film will go on floors in October and will be shot extensively in Berlin. It's learnt that SRK will also beef up for his role in the film. Shirtless Shahrukh, anytime! Source:

Shah Rukh is really worshipped across the country

Women adore Shah Rukh Khan as no actor is as charming and mesmerizing as SRK. The actor has the gift of the gab and can keep you arrested in his conversations, no matter what he speaks! Even Deepika Padukone once admitted, "Everytime I meet Shah Rukh, I think of telling him several things but the moment he starts talking I just listen!" Theatre actor, filmmaker and writer Makrand Deshpande has zeroed in on SRK's magnetic appeal to women as the subject of his forthcoming film. "Every time I speak to Shah Rukh, I keep listening to him as he is gifted as a talker. He leaves you glued to him when he speaks. I thought if this happens to men, what must be happening to his female fans and that's when it struck me that I should make a film on how the actor's magic works on his female fan. My film is titled 'Shah Rukh Bola Khoobsurat Hai Tu'. The film is a tale of a girl who sells flowers on traffic signals. She considers superstar Shah Rukh

Shah Rukh Khan Labels Newspaper Reports As ‘Fiction’

Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan is the latest victim of the growing celebrity driven media culture in India. Commenting on the recent reports about his lookalike in Salman Khan's show 'Bigg Boss' in the media, Shah Rukh wrote on his Twitter account, "I also read about myself in the morning many times.. mostly when it is with a picture. Starting the day with fiction is fun." Afraid that he was "slowly becoming a fiction of others imagination", Shah Rukh vented that "incompetence is a genetic disorder", probably referring to the recent reports about him signing up for the next Yash Raj film. Interestingly, the actor has in the past taken recourse to Twitter to falsify reports in the media. However, he accepted that celebs are public property, but added, "Isn't that sad, when you see the state of public properties in India." Last heard, Shah Rukh Khan was shooting for Ra.One in Mumbai with Kareena Kapoor and Arjun

SRK function fails to take off

A function to be attended by Bollywood star Shahrukh Khan has to be called off at the last minute in south Delhi today as organisers "failed" to take prior permission, which led to protests by his fans and a lathicharge by the police. The cancellation of the function organised at Manoranjan Park in Kalindi Kunj resulted in some tension there and police had to resort to lathicharge to disperse a crowd of around 1,000 people who have assembled there. The organisers of the function had invited Shahrukh Khan and some other stars for the inauguration of ' Delhi I Ride' programme, a senior police official said. "They did not take the permission to organise the programme from the Licencing Branch. So we went there and did not allow the function to be held," the official said. The organisers could not be contacted for their version Read more: SRK function fails to take off - The Times of India http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/articleshow/664203

SRK back in Yash’s Raaj

Given their recent records, Yash Raj Films (YRF) is now trying to salvage its reputation of being one of the most successful and prestigious production houses in Bollywood. A lot of their recent projects bombed at the box office but they haven't let that dampen their spirits. After offering Dhoom 3 to Aamir Khan (he will start reading the script around October 15), YRF has now got another box-office winner, Shah Rukh Khan to work on one of its forthcoming films. The last YRF film with King Khan, which Yash Chopra directed himself, was Veer Zaara (2004), a box office success. The production house is counting a lot on the success of its forthcoming project with the actor. This film will either be directed by YRF head honcho Yash Chopra or his son Aditya. A source says, "YRF is yet to decide who will direct the Shah Rukh starrer. SRK has very good relations with both, Yashji and Aditya. He has equal faith in both of them. They are like family to him." And inte

Shahrukh Khan back to YRF camp, the film will go on floors in 2011

Shahrukh Khan signed the next film of Yash Raj productions which will go on the floors next year. It's been quite sometime that the combination of SRK and YRF has delivered a hit film in the industry. The recent and the past few projects of the YRF camp has failed to grab the attention of the viewers . Films like Dil Bole Haddipa, Badmaash Company, Lafangey Parindey fell head over heels on the day of its release. Yash Raj Films (YRF) is now trying bringing back the same reputation of the name which it had and took advantage of it to drive off the rest of the production houses with its film release. It is one of the most renowned and prestigious production houses of the Bollywood industry. The last film of SRK with YRF films was Veer Zaara(2004) which was directed by Yash Chopra himself which was a box office hit. The forthcoming film which Shahrukh has signed with Yash Raj will either be directed by Yash Raj himself or his son Aditya Chopra. Source: http://ic-tec

ShahRukh Mania triggers riot

Fans went berserk at inauguration of amusement park when the actor did not turn up Shah Rukh Khan is a rage on screen but Monday night's incident at Kalindi Kunj in northeast Delhi proved he could have a similar effect on his fans off screen too. Hundreds of fans gathered at the inauguration of an amusement park in the area on Monday went berserk when the Badshah Khan failed to turn up for the event. When the crowd swelled and did not heed to police warnings, the cops resorted to light cane charge to control the mob. A man, however, got entangled with a live wire and suffered burns. The police said apart from that man nobody else was injured in the incident. "Shah Rukh had to come to inaugurate the Delhi Rides amusement park but the owner did not have police permission to conduct the function. When we came to know about it we cordoned off the area. Though SRK did not turn up actress Malaika Arora Khan came for the event. She also went away after a few minutes an

Unruly crowd forces cancellation of SRK event

An unmanageable crowd forced event managers to cancel Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan's inauguration of an 18-storey-high giant wheel, called the Delhi Eye, Monday evening. The star, 44, was supposed to inaugurate the Delhi Eye at the Kalindi Kunj Park here. "The event has been cancelled due to crowd mismanagement. It was way too panicky to continue with this kind of crowd," a source from the event organising team, said. A Delhi Police officer said on condition of anonymity: "The event has been cancelled as the crowd was not under control. There were more than 500 people and the crowd was going out of hand, and because of this we even had to go for a lathicharge." Bollywood item girl Malaika Arora Khan was also scheduled to perform at the launch. Offering a panoramic view of the Qutub Minar, Red Fort, Lotus Temple, Connaught Place and Nehru Place among other spots in the city, the Delhi Eye has been modelled on the London Eye and the Singa

Khan: 'Indian sci-fi needs to get better'

WENN Shah Rukh Khan has said that he wants his forthcoming superhero film Ra.One to set a trend for better special effects in Indian sci-fi. The actor wants to attract a younger audience to the cinema to watch science-fiction, the Hindustan Times has reported. In an interview with the paper, he said: "I can afford to spend on technology in my films at this point of time, and I feel that those who can, should bring technical advancement. "Otherwise, we will lose a younger audience. I am attempting that with Ra.One ." Ra.One will see Khan being a flying superhero, who must defeat ten villains in succession. Chatting up SRK

His hair is perfectly gelled into place, despite the pouring rain. After all, he's a superstar. We've been waiting for an hour, while Shah Rukh Khan wraps up a photoshoot. It's late in the day, but the actor's still beaming. "The rain didn't spoil my hair," he says, as he settles into a chair and looks around, taking in the numerous fans being held at bay by his bouncers. It seems strange to be sitting with Shah Rukh in a venue that resembles the sets of Devdas — at the entertainment hub Kingdom of Dreams. In fact, the actor seems dressed for the part too — he's wearing a button down shervani .  Can't he imagine Aishwarya Rai running down the grand staircase behind us? "Ha! It's nice if it reminds you of that, Devdas is a good film," he laughs. The actor's current obsession is his upcoming home production, the Sci Fi film Ra.One . He's still trying to regain the 10 kgs he lost while wor

God resides in man's heart, not man-made houses: SRK

It is futile for people to fight over religious monuments, says Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, in an indirect message for peace ahead of the verdict on the Babri Masjid-Ramjanmabhoomi dispute. 'I hope we Indians realise how difficult it is to build stadiums and respect and so easy to break monuments and disrespect each others' beliefs. I believe that Allah, god, bhagwan, whichever name we pray to the supreme power by, resides in man's heart, not in manmade houses for Him,' Shah Rukh posted on Twitter. 'I mean first our beliefs should take seed and grow in our hearts and then and only then we should manifest that in places of prayer and god,' he added. A devout Muslim, Shah Rukh married Hindu girl Gauri Chhibber in 1991. The verdict on the Babri Masjid-Ramjanmabhoomi title suit case was due to be delivered Sep 24. But now it has been rescheduled for Sep 28. Source: http://www.bombaynews.net/story/689231

Shahrukh Khan: German blood in Ra. One

SRK has got the sizzling Indian babe Kareena Kapoor as one of the sexiest celluloid mothers ever; he even roped in Akon to sing one of his songs and now the so-called King Khan has, reportedly, roped in the famed German composer Hans Zimmer who has worked on mega hit film like Leonardo's Inception, Johnny Depp's Pirates of the Caribbean, The Da Vinci Code, The Dark Knight, Sherlock Holmes, The Lion King, Gladiator and even The Last Samurai. This will be Zimmer's first tryst with Bollywood who has, hitherto, refused all offers from the B-town to compose for them. Mumbai Mirror reports, "Shah Rukh has roped in a lot of foreign technicians for his sci-fi flick. He wants the film to be of international standards. It was his director Anubhav Sinha who suggested Hans Zimmer's name for the background score. Anubhav took the help of his contacts to arrange for a meeting between Hans and SRK. With time, Hans agreed to come on board." Shahrukh, of course,

Shah Rukh defends CWG Committee on Twitter

Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan has defended the attempts made by the Commonwealth Games Committee on the microblogging site Twitter. Just days after the actor had tweeted about how religious fanaticism is unreasonable, he posted , "i hope we indians realize how difficult it is to build stadiums & respect & so easy to break monuments & disrespect each others beliefs". The latter part of the statement referring to the Ayodhya verdict that is yet awaited. Shah Rukh is not the first celebrity to come forward and express his opinion on the Games, though others have not been as charitable as him. Recently, Shilpa Shetty tweeted "News that things are falling apart a week before the games begin and how! Athletes are pulling out due to health and safety concerns...just makes me cringe. This could have been a great opportunity to make our country proud. Unfortunately CWG hasn't brought us the pride and honour we thought it would." Other Bollywood

SRK to be quizzed by Big B on KBC4?

Shah Rukh Khan has reportedly been approached by Kaun Banega Crorepati to sit on the hot seat and be quizzed by Amitabh Bachchan. The show, which goes on air on Big B's 68th birthday (October 11), had SRK as its host in the third edition. It was widely reported that though the edition was a success, it could not emulate the massive fan frenzy that Amitabh had managed to garner in the first two seasons. After this, the show went off air and then Big B was taken back to be the face of KBC again. "The channel is very keen to have an episode that would have the two hosts of KBC face to face. They have approached SRK to be a celebrity contestant who will be quizzed by Amitabh. The channel knows that this is what will give them a huge buzz. SRK is undecided. He has good relations with the channel as well as the makers of the show, so it is hugely being anticipated that he might give a nod for this special episode. Everyone has their fingers crossed," says a highly plac

SRK's RA.One goes international

Shah Rukh Khan has apparently roped in Hans Zimmer of The Dark Knight and The Lion King fame, to compose music for his home production. Though known to be a perfectionist even otherwise, King Khan it seems wants to put all his energies in making his production RA.One, an international success. Not too long ago, Shah Rukh Khan signed the pop icon Akon to sing one of the songs in the film. And now, the grapevine has it that SRK has signed German composer Hans Zimmer to work on the background score of the film. And if all goes well, this will be the first time Hans will be composing music for a Bollywood movie. Hans Zimmer is recognised as one of Hollywood's most innovative musical talents for having worked on super hits like The Lion King, Gladiator, The Last Samurai, Pirates of The Caribbean series, The Da Vinci Code , The Dark Knight, Sherlock Holmes and even the much-talked-abut Inception. A source from the unit reveals, "Shah Rukh has roped in

Shahrukh Khan- SRK in aid of the ‘ignored’ fathers

While mothers have been eulogised for ages in cinema, fathers have been ignored. That is the opinion Shahrukh Khan seems to hold and the superstar is out saying that that was the one reason why he chose to do the sci-fi film Ra.One and that is why the project is so close to his heart. "Ra.One is a simple story of a father and a son. There have been a lot of movies and songs dedicated to mothers but unfortunately, fathers are ignored. I being a father myself and a part of cinema, decided to give them all some space through my film," Shahrukh said. He, at the same time , is hoping that the film will personally profit him, too. He expects after seeing the film he will become a hero for his son Aryan. We always knew SRK's devotion to his children, so that was somewhat cute. He has also decided to dedicate the film to all the fathers of the world. "The film is dedicated to all the fathers in the world. I hope this film will help bring fathers at the front and

Shazahn shoots with Shah Rukh Khan

Not many are aware that before making her big screen debut with ROCKET SINGH - SALESMAN OF THE YEAR, Shazahn Padamsee was an established face in the advertisement circuits. Though she has rubbed shoulders with many big names in that world and is now working with Ajay Devgn and Madhur Bhandarkar in DIL TOH BACHCHA HAI JI , Shazahn hasn't left behind her passion of being a model. She is still pretty much active in this circuit and recently shot a commercial with none other than Shah Rukh Khan. "Well, I am just 21 and all I can say is 'Thank You God'," smiles Shazahn, "I am happy to be working with some of the best folks in business." In a way, she has been lucky enough to get some of the best co-stars in business, whether it comes to Hindi films, her commercials or the projects down South. From Ranbir to Ajay, she has touched both age groups while in South, she recently did a film with heart throb Ram Charan Teja as well. While Shah Rukh i

Shahrukh Khan: RA.ONE is for fathers

Though we might talk of gender equality, but SRK feels that fathers have been neglected over the time. He feels that there's a need to make fathers the heroes in front of their kids and to do that his film RA.ONE might actually do the trick. SRK has claimed that his film RA.ONE is dedicated to all the fathers. He feels that there are only a few films that celebrate the importance of this bond. Now, RA.ONE will present all the dad's in their supreme light. The film is one of the most promising projects SRK has ever attempted and is fast nearing completion. Dad's honesty killed him: SRK

My dad's honesty killed him as he was too gentle to handle the world – but I'm not; I'm honest but I'm not defensive about winning and living well, says SRK, as he looks back at life 30 years after his dad died of cancer in Delhi You've been posting messages about your dad today (Sep 19) ... nostalgia? Haan yaar... I just suddenly realized today, I woke up and I'd forgotten what date it was, I just looked at the newspaper and then realized it... Actually, before that, at night, strangely, my son came to me – my wife is at the hospital, she's staying there – and he came to me and said, 'papa, I want to give a hug.' So I asked, 'why?' And he said, 'just like that, papa... I think, I love you'. I found it very touching. And then I woke up and realized that it was my dad's death anniversary when I saw the newspapers. And I'm glad I'm in Delhi today. I'll go and pray in a while. When good things happen in m

Shah Rukh Khan to grace the inaugural event of CWG

The inaugural event of CWG is to be attended by our very own Shah Rukh Khan who has aptly shown his penchant for all things sports be it his movie "Chak De, India!" or the IPL cricket team "Kolkata Knight Riders" which he literally owns and relishes in talking about. Though he's no doubt gaining from them in financial terms but think of it how many mainstream actors have the guts to do a completely sports-themed movie with 13 unknown faces, a middle-aged look without a full on lead role sans a heroine and actually make the best out of it. As far as the cricket team goes he's still to taste victory and has stood by his players even when they perform dismally. Viraf Sarkari who owns the Gurgaon based entertainment hub 'Kingdom of Dreams' is the director in charge of both the inaugural as well as the valedictory ceremonies of the commonwealth games to be held in Delhi starting Oct 3rd. He did not confirm the news of Khan's p
